This notation found on Larry Morris site (linked above) is the result of Michael Wall´s endeavour to notate Mamady Keita´s Tiriba by the consensus of Djembe-L members. The unusual notes in the kenkeni and sangban parts are press notes, which are produced by pressing the stick to the skin rather than hitting it (requires a special technique).
